Great story about the SR-71 Blackbird, a spy plane created in the 1960s. The writer briefly mentions that the Blackbird appears in the latest Transformers, eliciting this hilariously aggrieved comment.
One interesting point about the Blackbird, also from the comments, is that the plane intentionally leaked jet fuel while grounded. Why? “The fuselage would heat up and the titanium would expand into a perfect seal.” As the commenter says: Genius.
